Esports Sponsorship Lifts Betting Interest Across Key Markets

Blask analysed search behaviour around StarLadder Budapest 2025 and found that esports sponsorship is driving user interest in betting, but not always towards a specific operator. In several markets, users searched in generic terms such as where to bet on esports, rather than naming a bookmaker. That pattern shows sponsorship can expand category awareness before it converts into brand choice.

Where Non-Branded Demand Is Strongest

The share of non-branded esports betting searches was highest in Brazil at 58.16%, followed by the Philippines at 49.19% and Hungary at 45.48%. Nicaragua reached 33.40%, Serbia 32.97% and Sweden 28.86%. Lithuania, Moldova, Slovakia, Angola, North Macedonia and the Czech Republic also recorded notable levels of generic interest.

For operators, this matters because non-branded traffic is still open competition. A sponsorship may spark intent, but it does not guarantee that users will register with the sponsor behind a team or event. Brands with strong acquisition funnels, localised content and clear esports positioning have more room to convert that curiosity into active players.

What The Search Split Means For Operators

Non-branded queries are searches without a bookmaker name. They usually signal that a user is interested in placing a bet but has not chosen a platform yet. That creates an opportunity for operators with strong search visibility, affiliate reach and market-specific onboarding journeys.

It also highlights a limit in sponsorship economics. Shirt logos, event placements and team partnerships build reach, but they do not always create instant recall. In markets where generic search remains high, operators need better follow-through across search, social media, streaming integrations and product landing pages.

CS2 Cologne Major 2026 Shows Sponsorship Density

The next major test of that dynamic is already visible in CS2 Cologne Major 2026. Twenty one of the tournament’s 32 teams have iGaming sponsors, alongside Polymarket, which is becoming more active around betting-adjacent audiences.

The sponsor list includes 1xBet with Aurora, The MongolZ, 9z and MIBR. BetBoom backs Team Spirit, FURIA, GamerLegion and BetBoom Team. Stake sponsors Team Vitality and Astralis, while LeonBet appears with GamerLegion and FlyQuest. Other pairings include GG.BET with Natus Vincere, Fonbet with MOUZ, PARI with PARIVISION, Betpanda with G2 Esports and Duelbits with Team Liquid.

Why The Market Is Paying Attention

Esports audiences are young, digitally native and comfortable moving between content, communities and wagering products. Sponsorship gives betting brands a route into that attention, especially around major Counter-Strike events. The challenge is turning visibility into trust, recognition and conversion.

For suppliers and operators, the message is clear. Team sponsorship still matters, but its value rises when it is matched with market-specific search strategy and better product discovery. In high-interest regions, the operators that connect brand exposure with a simple betting journey will capture the most value.
