Cambodia Online Gambling Interest Falls 30.7%
Cambodia saw one of the sharpest weekly declines in online gambling interest, according to Blask’s latest market digest. The Blask Index, which tracks changes in attention towards iGaming, showed Cambodia down 30.7% over the week.
The drop followed action by Cambodian authorities, who revoked the licences of 91 casinos over suspected links to fraudulent schemes. The move forms part of a broader campaign against scam centres, and it is already affecting attention around the country’s gambling sector.
Why Cambodia’s Decline Matters
Licence revocations on this scale send a clear signal to operators and suppliers. Compliance standards are tightening, and any market exposure linked to weak controls can quickly damage visibility, demand and partner confidence.
For B2B firms, this creates a more selective environment. Companies with strong monitoring, identity checks and anti-fraud tools are better placed to support licensed operators as authorities raise scrutiny.
Other Markets That Lost Momentum
Colombia posted the steepest weekly fall at 31.6%. That decline followed an earlier surge linked to a court decision and a major lottery series, suggesting the market has now returned to a more typical level of interest.
The Netherlands fell 30.2% after a previous spike driven by a regulator’s report. Japan dropped 25.9% after police reported a record number of cases tied to illegal gambling, while debate around website blocking added more pressure to demand.
Where Interest Increased
Vietnam led weekly growth with a 15.5% rise. Blask linked the increase to long public holidays around Reunification Day and Labour Day, which created a four-day break and lifted leisure time.
Poland followed with 15.1% growth, supported by a similar holiday effect and the decisive stage of the domestic football championship. For operators, the pattern is familiar: major sporting moments and extended holidays can quickly lift player attention.
What The Blask Index Shows
The Blask Index measures market interest in iGaming rather than confirmed revenue or active player numbers. That makes it useful as an early signal. It helps operators spot where regulation, public events or enforcement activity are changing market sentiment before those changes appear in wider performance data.
