Communication issues surfaced early on. Despite assurances from their manager, IndexEmpire realised that Affgems was not actively monitoring traffic quality. Concerns were raised periodically, yet the arrangement continued without apparent issues until February, when a head affiliate intervened, citing KPI-related payment approval delays. This unexpected shift left IndexEmpire baffled, particularly given the prior understanding.

Financial Implications

The financial fallout began in February, with the promised sums being withheld or subjected to conditions. Initially approved for a €46,000 payment for January, IndexEmpire received only €31,000, with €15,000 placed on hold. In March, despite demonstrating traffic recovery, they still faced hurdles in securing their remaining payout. Affgems' stance seemed unyielding, suggesting that promotions boosting revenue might unlock the funds.

Operational Challenges

The narrative escalates as IndexEmpire threatened to take their grievances public, wielding evidence as leverage. Affgems, perceiving it as a threat, opted to withhold an additional €16,000 from February and March payouts. The organisation now faces criticism for perceived client management shortcomings, with Affgems' management decisions under scrutiny.
