VIP Players Clash with Deposit Presets: A Case Study

VIP Players Clash with Deposit Presets: A Case Study
In early 2025, a significant change was introduced to enhance the user experience of a gaming platform. Deposit presets were implemented, allowing players to choose from predetermined amounts when making deposits. This was designed to simplify transactions, especially for players aged 50 and above, and potentially increase average deposit size.
Initial Outcomes and Observations
The rollout included four deposit presets: 25 EUR, 50 EUR, 100 EUR, and 250 EUR. Within the first month, analysis showed a reduction in time spent at the deposit stage by 4–5 seconds as users utilised these presets. The average first deposit increased from 23.1 EUR to 24.6 EUR.
Feedback from the VIP Segment
While the initial results seemed positive, feedback from the VIP team highlighted issues. VIP players, particularly Diamond users, were negatively influenced. Their average deposit, usually around 130 EUR, dropped to 110 EUR by February 2025. Despite no drop in deposit frequency, the common presets did not cater well to their needs.
Analysing VIP Behaviour
Upon investigation, it was found that uniform presets did not suit the deposit habits of Diamond users. These players, who typically deposited around 130 EUR, had to choose between a 100 EUR or 250 EUR preset, often opting for the former. This choice led to a decrease in average deposit size, impacting revenue from this significant user group.
Adjusting the Strategy
In response, the presets for Diamond users were quickly revised. The options became 50 EUR, 150 EUR, 200 EUR, and 250 EUR, closer to the typical deposit behaviour of these players. By March, the average deposit of Diamond VIPs returned to 138 EUR, highlighting the importance of nuanced segmentation.
Conclusion
This case underscores the potential pitfalls of a one-size-fits-all approach in the iGaming industry. Tailored solutions, based on thorough user segmentation, are crucial for optimising both user experience and business outcomes.
